*Will post more when I receive them. Sleep Out 120 has officially ended and there will be a follow up blog when people are home and settled in. Thank you for all your support!
ROBYN:
I can't believe I finally participated in sleep out! I've been dying to do it since it was on the go last year and now my time is done! All I can say is what an amazing experience! It was such an eye opener! Listening to the stories from the people who actually live on the street was amazing. Their attitude is incredible. They have nothing yet they still smile, they still laugh and some of them even still sang to us. The support the campaign received from the community was amazing! People donating coffee, food, money to the cause it was just so fantastic to see. Even people just coming up to us to ask how we were doing and what the experience has been like, they have no idea how much that boosts our spirit! The group was also so so so amazing! The conversations we had were awesome and the laughs we shared just made the experience something I will never forget! We had such an awesome team this year and I'm so honoured and proud to have been part of it!
BLAIR:
Yesterday was a great day, the community at large of St. John's were extremely supportive. All I have to
say about Newfoundlanders is that when they understand that there is an issue that needs to be addressed, they answer with their acts of compassion. We saw so many acts of compassion over the last 120 hours and I feel very proud to be a Newfoundlander today! I have been home for just 15 minutes now and I can't really explain how I feel. What I can explain is that we met some people this week who gave us their trust by telling their stories. We heard stories from the homeless, the people at risk of becoming homeless and stories from people who have loved ones who know they are struggling. It has been a great week of awareness and fund raising. Thanks to all the participants and thanks to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador!
